MosaiKiamo is an educational community for school-age children and teens in which education, nutrition, and multilingualism interlock.
At MosaiKiamo, school-age children experience a trilingual daily life (German, Italian, and English). As an after-school educational and living space, MosaiKiamo not only complements the school day but creates a familial space where children cook and eat together after school, complete homework, and work on diverse projects – because doing things together creates belonging, strengthens relationships, and anchors learning in everyday life.
MosaiKiamo promotes a sustainable lifestyle and supports families in their educational role. Consciously cultivated daily routines create stability, shared action encourages personal responsibility, and joy is a natural part of everyday life. In this way, self-regulation, resilience, and mental flexibility develop.
Why MosaiKiamo?
Many families face new challenges today. Parenting has become more complex, and parents often have to navigate many questions alone. At the same time, children are growing up in a complex world, experiencing performance pressure, and spending more time in front of screens – often connected to unhealthy daily habits and little room for genuine connection.
Traditional networks of relatives, neighbors, and community structures that have supported growing up for generations have become weaker in many places or have changed.
MosaiKiamo emerged as a response to this development: a place where children are seen as whole individuals and, through shared learning, cooking, and the lived experience of multiple languages, develop openness, inner strength, and orientation for a connected world — embedded in a community that also offers renewed support to families.
Why MosaiKiamo – in brief
Strong community. Natural multilingualism. Active learning. Healthy growth.
MosaiKiamo’s day-to-day
The afternoon at MosaiKiamo begins in the kitchen: together children and teens prepare lunch using fresh, organic ingredients, set the table, and eat at the large table. A moment where cooking, languages, and community come together. Through this process, they develop a natural understanding of how what they eat affects their well-being, energy, and concentration – through daily practice, not through lectures.
This is followed by homework in a focused atmosphere and time for projects, books, and whatever they want to explore and deepen. Between activities, there is room for exchange, movement, and shared play.
Our modern spaces support this daily life with clear structures, natural materials, and different areas for concentration, exchange, and shared activities. The daily schedule follows recurring rituals and a natural rhythm – not fixed timetables. This creates a flow that provides orientation while leaving room for personal interests and collective creativity.
Educational approach
At the heart of our work are education (in its original sense of "drawing out"), multilingualism, creativity, and cultural diversity, along with a conscious approach to nutrition.
Through daily life in three languages and encounters with cultural diversity, young people naturally develop tolerance and the ability to take different perspectives – skills that are essential in today’s complex world.
Academic support, from homework assistance to individualized learning guidance, is an integral part of daily life at MosaiKiamo.
We stay informed about current research in pedagogy, developmental psychology, and nutritional science, and integrate these insights into everyday life in practical ways that are adapted to the children's needs.
“MosaiKiamo creates places where knowledge nourishes, doing educates, and taste inspires.”

Our name
The name MosaiKiamo combines the image of a mosaic with the Italian ending –iamo (we). Like a mosaic, community emerges from many different pieces – from diversity, relationships, and shared experiences. MosaiKiamo represents an attitude: development happens where differences come together and community carries us.

Context
MosaiKiamo serves school-aged children up to 15 years old. The program takes place primarily after school and is complemented during school holidays with project-based morning sessions. Our work aligns with school dismissal times and takes place in small, flexible groups within a lived trilingual daily environment.

About us
MosaiKiamo is a non-profit educational initiative that accompanies school-age children. Our goal is to create reliable educational and living environments in which learning, everyday life and community come together. We work in a values-based, life-oriented way, with the aim of supporting children’s holistic development – not through programmes, but through relationships, everyday life and shared action.
